
John Woodford was born in Charlotte N.C, in May of 1877, a son of a slave. He was the father of 11 children. He was a provider among men. He lived life working numerous careers, he was a blacksmith, carpenter, contractor, educator, air-testor, and entrepreneur/ business ceo.

He moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1911. Needing a place to stay, he pioneered the development of the American Addition subdivision on the east side of Columbus.


One of Carl’s sons, Dr. Stacy Woodford, worked for Columbus City Schools. He also co-founded  Woodford Contemporary Real Estate with his wife Beverly. Woodford Contemporary Real Estate has stayed open for business for 50 years. Â
Anthony's parents Beverly and Dr. Woodford are Columbus’s first Black female and male Realtors in the Columbus Board of Realtors Million Dollar Club here in Columbus, Ohio. This was quite the achievement for both of them because most of their house sales averaged $50,000 or below

Anthony has continued working in residential construction for over 35 years and now is passing the baton on to his four sons. Â Â
